Industry Restoration Levels:
Level 1: Concours De’Elegance
- This is a full frame-off restoration where you completely rebuild the car. The cost depends on the condition of the car at the start.
1. Phase 1:
a. Tear down of the interior: carpets, seats, door panels, headliner, dash and wiring. We evaluate conditions of these items also.
b. Disassembly of exterior: everything is taken off, marked, bagged, labeled and stored in a climate controlled area.
c. Frame and vehicle are stripped down to bare metal, prepped and sprayed with a two part epoxy primer – (frame can be powder coated or painted).
2. Phase 2:
a. Customer is invited to come take a look before we begin the rust repair.
b. After discussion with customer and decisions are made, parts are ordered.
c. Body is put on a rotisserie and bottom addressed
d. All rust repair, body work and fittings are done on the frame with new body mounts.
e. Car is taken off frame or sub-frame; frame tore down and painted and reassembled.
3. Phase 3:
a. The car and all panels are guide coated, blocked, sanded and primed several times for straightness. This is a very important step.
b. This step may have to be done a second time to achieve perfection.
c. All trim is double checked for fit.
d. Two part sealer is applied to the whole car.
4. Phase 4:
a. Cars jams are painted in the color the car is to be painted.
b. Reassemble: hang doors, fenders and deck lid
c. Prep for paint.
d. Paint fenders, outer hood, outer deck lid, etc.
e. If basecoat/clearcoat car is disassembled to clear all edges front and back
5. Phase 5:
a. This phase consists of a series of sandings perfecting the mirror finish.
b. Jambs are sanded removing excess “peel”.
c. Cleaned, buffed and hand rubbed.
6. Phase 6:
a. Reassemble the car making sure every part is cleaned and polished and that all parts align and fit properly.
b. Install new upholstery, carpet and door panels.
c. Clean and detail the entire car to concours standard.
7. Phase 7:
Deliver the car to the customer along with a documented photographic history of the restoration.
Level 2: High Show Quality
- Frame off restoration will be performed strictly under consent of the customer.
- Use of NOS or reproduction parts in place of original parts in some cases.
- A superior restoration that does not have the preparation of a Level 1.
- This vehicle is driven and shown for pleasure at mostly casual and some judged events.
Level 3: General Refinish
- This vehicle is a “driver”.
- The finish may show evidence of “orange peel”.
- Reproduction/NOS parts will be used primarily if available at a cheaper cost.
- This vehicle is not intended for scrutinized judging events.
