So the story begins. Here is a 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie factory "lightweight", the way the previous owner "Shelby" acquired it. It's full history is still not known. He bought the car to restore it back to original. Over time he became known for his searches to acquire NOS and original parts to bring it back to new. He started the restoration tearing down the car and trying to document correct markings and orientation of brackets, bolts, etc. through Polaroids and 35mm film. Working out of his garage he removed the body and started completely tearing down the frame using whatever tools and materials he had or acquired. He managed to restore the frame to the best of his abilities; and in my opinion did a heck of a job for someone not using the resources of a professional shop. He either rebuilt or had someone rebuild the motor. "Shelby" had many body panels and other parts detailed. The time he took to try and do the most accurate restoration he could, should be admired by all restorers. Unfortunately "Shelby" passed away before his project was finished. Another unfortunate thing is much of his hard work had succumb to the elements of humidity and moisture having not been in a climate controlled environment and unable to remove all signs of corrosion. Primed parts also suffered from this potential threat. Everything will have to be redone. Don't get me wrong this car is in incredible shape, better than most we've seen. Shelby's quest will not be ended. In a world of restorations that are half done and the things not seen ignored, this restoration will not be one of them. Red Zone Motorsports is committed to seeing this car restored beyond the extent of most restorations. The current owner who acquired this car and one of Shelby's other cars (an R code 63 Galaxie) is just as driven. This car is dedicated to all of you who dreamed of  building the best.  Enjoy the process....Thank You John M. Morgan / Red Zone Motorsports.

This is the stage we are at as of Sept.16. We sponsored a class at Dayton Concours D'Elegance at Carillon Park 2007. We felt it was necessary to educate people on the process of what it takes to achieve a restoration of this caliber. No trim, no interior everything is visible; right side wheel was removed to see the detail. Enjoy following this restoration not many go this far. We hope it inspires you....The crew at Red Zone Motorsports.
